Originally from the Bordeaux region, the Merlot is also the variety mainly grown in the Canton of Ticino. This variety is the most frequently planted red grape variety in the world; Merlot thrives in the ideal climatic conditions in Valais.
Tasting notes
Deep garnet red colour. The nose is wonderfully characterised by candied plums and wild cherries. The attack is smooth, the tannins blend in subtly with the marked acidity, making the wine very fresh. A rich, full-bodied and sumptuous wine.
Food-wine pairing
Great with dried meats (Valaisan platter), roasted partridge, quail, game terrine, jugged hare, kidney and liver, roast meat, pot-au feu and cheese platters.
