Heida and Païen are Valais appellations for the Savagnin grape. The main origin of this variety is in the famous vin jaune of the Jura region. It is part of the Traminer family and has been present in Valais since time immemorial. This white wine is full of character, is lively, fruity and long-lasting. The 2.2 hectares of the Domaine de La Leyraz is completely dedicated to this wine.
Tasting notes
Beautiful yellow colour with greenish highlights. The nose brings to mind citrus and exotic fruit or even bergamot tea. The palate is well-structured with a pleasant lifeliness. Because of its young age, it also contains tastes of fermentation on lees giving it a well-rounded structure and warmth. After a while it develops a hue of roasted hazelnut. A strong wine with good ageing potential.
Food-wine pairing
Ideal with fish, crustaceans, seafood, but also with Alpine cheeses. Also goes along nicely with typical Valais dishes such as a Valaisan platter or a raclette.
