?The exact origin of the Merlot grapes remains uncertain. However, it is generally accepted that it comes from the Bordeaux region; it belongs to the grape varieties typical of the great "Bordeaux châteaux". It grows well in cool areas, which are able to conserve enough moisture during summer. The Tyné Merlot is planted on the left side of the Rhone, near Grone (Sierre), where it finds ideal climatic conditions.
Tasting notes
Red garnet colour. The nose is intensely fruity with perfumes of ripe fruit and candied cherry. On the palate, it is full-bodied, strong, well-structured and composed of elegant and subtle tannins. Its natural richness makes this wine full and delicate. A great wine for keeping.
Food-wine pairing
Great in combination with meat dishes prepared in a sauce ("coq au vin", boeuf braisé) and Beef Wellington. It also complements perfectly venison terrines, quail and roasted partridge. It may also be enjoyed with a Valaisan platter or cheeses from the Canton of Valais.
