Ermitage is the Valais appellation for the wine made from the Marsanne Blanche grape. It owes its name to the most famous vineyard where it is grown: that of Tain-l’Ermitage in the Côtes-du-Rhône region, where its origins lie. The Ermitage is a late-harvesting grape and enjoys warm, pebbly and well-drained soils such as that of the Domaine Prafalcon (1.5 hectares) in the municipality of Sierre.

Tasting notes
Yellow colour. Complex fragrances reminding of undergrowth, mushrooms, asparagus, wild strawberries, white truffles and fresh almonds. Tastes that can be found again in the mouth and are deliciously long-lasting. It is a strong, full-bodied wine enriched with delicate final bitterness. A rich and powerful wine, full of character that will age wonderfully, developing tastes of almonds and smoke.

Food-wine pairing
Ideal with foie gras (hot or cold), poached or braised fish. Also superb to accompany desserts with wild berries and a lot of cream.
