Johannisberg is the name that Valaisans have given to their selection of Silvaner grapes. This vine is very popular throughout the vineyards of northern Europe; it is generous and supports widely varying conditions. However, it is only in the most favourably exposed areas on the first and middle quality slopes that is gives excellent, tender and tasty wines. The Chamoson terroir is the ideal spot for this noble variety.
Tasting notes
Pale yellow colour. Fragrances of fresh fruit, discreet hints of pineapple that only wait to unfold themselves. On the palate, it is mellow, hearty and full-bodied with tastes of slightly smoky selected almonds. A typical hint of bitterness on the finish.
Food-wine pairing
Perfect combination with all classical asparagus dishes; also goes especially well with freshwater fish, terrines, mushrooms casseroles and soft cheeses.
