Very old grape variety native to the Valais. Introduced in the 12th century. Late ripening variety (3rd phase).
Tasting notes
The nose of this wine reflects fragrances of lime, grapefruits and rhubarb. A touch of wisteria and passion fruit confer rare aromatic complexity to this wine. The attack is scented and lively, the finish has the typical salty note of this wine. A great harmonious rich wine, round and with a hint of sweetness.
Food-wine pairing
Excellent as aperitif, perfectly accompanies Asian and exotic dishes, lentil salad with foie gras, foie gras terrine, duck foie gras, scampi, red mullet, crustaceans, smoked fish, lobster, blue-veined cheeses, spicy dishes, chocolate and spicy desserts as well as exotic fruit tarts.
