This grape variety can only be found in Valais and the Aosta valley, its probable place of origin. It is a rustic variety that likes the Valais soils. Because of it is at the same time generous and late-growing, it needs to be planted on pieces of land that are facing south, and the yield needs to be restricted.
Tasting notes
Intense red colour with brown reflections. Subtle rosemary and thyme fragrances with notes of brioches and grilled bread. Round and smooth attack, the fragrances perceived in the nose can also be found in the mouth. A wine of great intensity with wonderful and velvety tannins.
Food-wine pairing
Ideal with pheasant or duck meat, chamois saddle, boar meat and goat’s cheese
