Humagne Rouge AOC Valais
A typically late-ripening grape variety, the Humagne Rouge has been cultivated in the Valais for a long time. Its exact origins are unknown, but its adaption to the climatic and geological conditions in the Aosta valley shows that this mountainous wine variety originates from along the Dora Baltea river in Northern Italy and has been cultivated there for centuries.
Tasting notes
Dense, slightly purplish red colour. The complex nose is characterised by spicy notes of rosemary and cloves but also by fragrances of toasted bread and coffee. On the palate, gently smoked aromas blend with wild berries. The tannins are supple and mellow and create a wine which can be readily enjoyed now.
Food-wine pairing
Well-suited to game terrine, air-dried meats, rabbit, game and wildfowl, liver and kidney, roasted meats, pot-au-feu and cheeses.
